Prof. David Hulme is the professor of Development Studies at the University of Manchester and the Executive Director of the Brooks World Poverty Institute and the Chronic Poverty Research Centre. Hulme focuses in his research on human development and the Millennium Development Goals, in particular on rural development policy and planning, poverty reduction strategies, finance for the poor (including microfinance), sociology of development, role of community organisations and NGOs, environmental management and the public sector reform. Hulme is geographically focused on Bangladesh.
