KAPTalks is a series of high-level lectures with top global thinkers, organised by the European Commission, UNDP and partner institutions. Since 2009, over 150 such lectures have been held.

HOW TO APPLY?

By hosting a lecture at your university, you offer your students a unique opportunity to connect and debate with world-renowned experts and your institution will become a part of the global #KapTalks network.  

The lectures aim at raising awareness and improving understanding of the importance of international cooperation and partnerships amongst young people by fostering dialogue between students, decision-makers, and civil society.

If you’re interested in hosting a lecture at your campus in academic year 2024/2025, we warmly invite you to send your interest via online expression of interest (EOI) using new supplier portal system of UNDP: https://procurement-notices.undp.org/view_negotiation.cfm?nego_id=24060.

The deadline for application is: 30 September 2024 (9:49 AM New York time / 15:49 CET)

In order to submit your “bid for the tender” (in this case participate in the expression of interest – EOI), you will have to do the following steps:

  • If not yet done, create your profile (subscribe) in the new supplier portal system of UNDP – Quantum -following the instructions in the user guide
  • If you already have a supplier profile, please login to the Supplier Portal
  • Once logged in, then search for the negotiation using the reference number “UNDP-IRH-00178,1” following the instructions in the user guide.
  • To submit your interest, you will need to complete and submit a form, describing your institution capacities and preliminary concept note for the lecture (topic and speaker’s proposals) together with budget cost estimative (Preliminary and approximate organizational costs of the lecture)

COSTS/BUDGET

KAPTalks covers the costs of the event (venue, AV equipment etc.), including speaker costs (travel, hotel, fees).  After evaluations, pre-selected (shortlisted) institutions will be contacted in order to provide detailed quotations according to UNDP procurement rules and regulations.

OTHER PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The lectures can be organised as part of the other, broader activities (such as larger conferences) and use synergies between different events on interrelated topics. The selected hosting institutions can also operate in partnership with NGOs and think-tanks. 

The hosting institution is encouraged to organise additional workshops and meetings with the speaker while they are in the country. The lecture can take the form of a keynote speech, interview/conversation with the expert, panel discussion or other. Interactivity is strongly encouraged!

Practical info: 

  • The lectures can be organised around the following topics: Digital; Climate, Environment and Energy; Food security; Health; Education and Research; Transport; Migration; Peace and Security.
  • The topics can be also suggested by the universities from the partner countries which are relevant to their circumstances and priority policies. 
  • The selection of the speaker and the topics for the lectures will be done via consultations between the hosting institution(s), the European Commission and UNDP.
  • The project covers costs of the event’s logistics (such as venue and AV equipment), including speaker costs (travel hotel and fees).
